Using Your Own Domain

LynxPress has no server costs. To publish on your own domain, all you pay for is the domain itself. Here is how to get one on Cloudflare and connect it.

Custom domains are available on the Starter plan and above, including TRUE CLOUD members. See Pricing for details.

1. Create a Cloudflare account

  1. 1

    Open the Cloudflare website

    Go to https://dash.cloudflare.com/sign-up.

  2. 2

Sign up with your email and a password

Enter your email address and a password. Open the link in the confirmation email to finish. Creating an account is free.

2. Get a domain

You can register most domains such as .com and .net on Cloudflare. For domains Cloudflare does not offer, see "Domains from elsewhere" below.

  1. 1

    Search for a domain

In the dashboard, open Domain Registration (Register Domains) and search for the domain you want.

  2. 2

    Purchase it

Enter the registrant details and a credit card to complete the purchase. Cloudflare sells domains at cost, with no markup on renewals either. Turn on auto-renew so your site does not go offline when the domain expires.

3. Set up DNS

Point your domain to the LynxPress server. You only need one record.

  1. 1

    Open the DNS settings

Select your domain, open DNS > Records, and click Add record.

  2. 2

    Enter the record

Set Type to A, Name to @ (the domain itself, or www if you want to use the www address), and IPv4 address to 162.43.90.201.

  3. 3

Set the proxy status to DNS only and save

Turn off the Proxy status switch so the cloud icon turns grey (DNS only), then click Save. If it stays orange (Proxied), your site will not load.

TypeNameIPv4 addressProxy status
A@162.43.90.201DNS only

4. Connect the domain in LynxPress

  1. 1

    Open 「サイトの設定」 (Site settings)

In the LynxPress admin dashboard, open 「サイトの設定」 (Site settings).

  2. 2

    Enter your domain and save

Enter your domain in 「独自ドメイン」 (Custom domain), for example example.com (or www.example.com), and press 「保存する」 (Save).

  3. 3

    Check your site

Open your domain in a browser. LynxPress issues the HTTPS certificate automatically on the first visit. DNS changes can take from a few minutes to a few hours to take effect.

Using a domain registered elsewhere

Manage DNS on Cloudflare

Add your domain in the Cloudflare dashboard. Cloudflare shows two nameservers; set them at your current registrar. The switch can take up to 24 hours. Then continue from "3. Set up DNS".

Keep your current DNS

You can also add the same A record (value 162.43.90.201) in your current DNS provider, then continue from "4. Connect the domain in LynxPress".

Help

My site does not load

In Cloudflare DNS, check that the record is set to DNS only, and that its Name matches the domain you entered in LynxPress. Delete any other A, AAAA, or CNAME records with the same name.

The browser says the connection is not secure

The certificate is still being issued. Please wait a few minutes and reload.

The admin address did not change

The admin dashboard stays at https://your-subdomain.lynxpress.com/admin. Only your public blog moves to your domain.

If that does not help, please use the contact form and include your domain name.
